I offer individual psychotherapy services for individuals ages 16 and older. I believe in meeting individuals where they are at in their lives. I believe most individuals seek therapy when they feel something needs to change. I also believe some individuals are not as certain and they seek therapy for professional guidance or direction. I am happy to work with patients wherever they are at in their “stage of change.”
My theoretical background is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). A cognitive-behavioral orientation examines the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior. CBT is particularly beneficial in treating mood and anxiety disorders. CBT requires work from the patient in session and outside the session.
Homework assignments are often assigned and are important for addressing problem areas outside of the session. I also incorporate an interpersonal psychotherapy perspective into my work with patients because our relationships and interactions with others are central to a lot of individuals.
